Christmas Activity Morning

We will spend time exploring the story of the first Christmas through storytelling, craft and games. The morning ends at 12 noon with a short service in church to which all are welcome, followed by coffee and mince pies. All children aged 4 and above are welcome to join us, please contact Jan on 02380476777 or email  to book your place as spaces are limited. We look forward to seeing you there.

Christmas Tree Festival

‘Christmas Through the Ages’: amazing trees decorated by local community groups, together with refreshments, musical entertainment and craft stalls.

Join in with carol singing at the close of this year’s Christmas Tree Festival, Sunday 4pm.

Hopeweaver Pilgrimage Week

Over October half term, we will be joining Hopeweavers on our pilgrimage journey. At St James’ there will be a three-circle stone labyrinth pathway in the churchyard for a personal time of contemplation on our walk of faith with Jesus.  A prayer station will be set out in the north aisle on the same theme and will be available during morning prayer times and days for the week.  

On Friday 26th from 7pm till 9pm and Saturday 27th October from 9am till 5pm there will also be a large seven-circle labyrinth pathway laid out in Anchor Community Church, Quob Lane, West End, SO30 3HN

Our annual event welcoming children of all ages to explore finding light in the darkness, through different activities and enjoy some party food.

Lay Ministries Commissioning Service at Winchester Cathedral

Celebrating our worship leaders receiving Bishop’s Commission for Mission: Mike O’Brien and David Forster will be formally commissioned by the Bishop of Winchester to be our Worship Leaders.

Revd Linda’s Licensing Service

Revd Linda was licensed by Bishop Jonathan as St James’ Associate Priest of St James’. She also took on a new role as Chaplain at Saint James' School, and was commissioned to that role on the same day.

St James’ Family Picnic at Itchen Valley Country Park

By 'family' we mean the whole of St James' church family - the young, the old and the middling - as well as individual families. Bring and share some afternoon tea - cakes, sandwiches, drinks and snacks, sit and have a chat or join in the more boisterous games. From 2pm till whenever we all go home!

A time dedicated to serving those who give of their own time in order to care for others.

You are warmly invited to come and relax: take time out, chat over tea or coffee; browse information leaflets. Come on your own or with a friend. If you wish to and are able to bring the person in your care that is ok too.

Thy Kingdom Come - Global Wave of Prayer

This year's Novena of Prayer at St James takes place between 10 May and 20 May, including prayer stations in the church, 12 consecutive hours of prayer in a day (15 May), a prayer walk around the parish and standalone prayer activities at Saint James' school.
